The purpose of the Morrisburg & District Skating Club Publicity Policy is to ensure all skaters are treated fairly and to educate skaters and parents on how
pictures and articles will be presented to the Morrisburg Leader & South Dundas Inbox. Bill from South Dundas Inbox may choose to do things differently as his goal is to highlight all
children in the community. However, the following guidelines listed below should be followed for newspaper highlights.
-
Publicity Chair will contact the Morrisburg Leader & South Dundas Inbox to arrange pictures for competition and special events throughout the
season.
-
Coaches will submit skater results to the Publicity Chair following the competition.
-
For regular season competitions skater photographs (as a group) and results will be in the Morrisburg Leader & South Dundas Inbox.
-
Any skater that qualifies for the Skate Ontario Challenge or the Skate Ontario STARSkate Championships based on the new qualifying system will have their
photograph and an article in the Morrisburg Leader & South Dundas Inbox. Coaches will submit comments on each skaters’ accomplishments in achieving this goal. An article will be done
prior to the competition and then again after the skaters compete at the event with coach comments, the results as well as sharing their experience.
-
Skaters that participate in the off-season competitions during the summer may have their picture and results posted in the Morrisburg Leader. Parents can submit
their child’s photo and results to the Publicity Chair, and they will forward to the Morrisburg Leader. If more than one skater participates in either event, if possible, a group photo will
be arranged.
-
If two competitions are scheduled back-to-back and only a few skaters participate in each event the photo will be combined.
-
Skaters achieving Gold Levels at the Year End Banquet will have a separate photograph with their coach to acknowledge their success. If more than one skater
achieves Gold, the photograph may be combined.
Policy administration
MDSC will maintain and review this policy every three years at a minimum.
